Tim Sweeney
Fohenagh
Tim Sweeney hurled with Fohenagh and for Galway seniors from 1949–1963 (Wikipedia). He scored 1-4 in Fohenagh's one-point senior championship victory over Castlegar in the 1959 final replay, according to the Connacht Tribune (Castlegar replay). Ahead of Fohenagh against Liam Mellows, the Connacht Tribune of 17 May 1958 names him among the club's fine hurlers, with Pat Joe Lally, Gorman and Qualter. The Connacht Tribune team photo after that first senior title in 1959 names him with the champions (champions caption). A History of Fohenagh calls him the top man in Fohenagh hurling history, and he first played for the club in 1945. The Connacht Tribune of 7 September 1973 called him "a former captain of the County senior hurling team". The Connacht Tribune of 3 August 1963 called him the man of the match, writing that Tim Sweeney "played himself to a standstill at right half-forward" and that "He scored six points in succession during the second half". The Tuam Herald of 8 September 2005 pictured "Tim Sweeney (Fohenagh)" with "the Galway team which lost to Wexford in the 1955 All-Ireland final". The Connacht Tribune of 24 August 1957 wrote that "others to impress were Tim Sweeney (Fohenagh)".
