The burning of the hurls

Fohenagh v Tynagh at Kiltormer, 1956

A History of Fohenagh records a Junior A game at Kiltormer on 15 July 1956 in which Fohenagh led Tynagh by seven points to nil when the game was called off[1]. Both teams were suspended for twelve months[1]. The Tuam Herald of 6 October 1956, page 5, is the printed report of Fohenagh against Tynagh at Kiltormer[2]. A 2021 Connacht Tribune retrospective records the same game at Kiltormer, with Fohenagh ahead when it was called off[3]. The book records that the County Board still brought Fohenagh into senior hurling, and that three years later they were county champions[1].
