The referee question

1941 county junior semi-final

Claregalway objected to the referee appointed for the county junior semi-final against Fohenagh[1]. T. Murphy told the County Board that if another referee were appointed, Fohenagh could come along the next week and object again[1]. P. Ruane of Claregalway said that if the referee was not changed they would give the match to Fohenagh and withdraw from the championship[1]. J. Muldoon said that in the South every club was looking for Mr Cullen[1]. M. Cullen said he would referee anywhere the Board asked him[1]. P. Ruane said Claregalway had not had notice that the game was fixed for 17 May[1]. The chairman ruled that the match be played the next Sunday with M. Cullen as referee[1].
