Excerpt

Fohenagh met Claregalway in the 1941 junior county semi-final at Athenry on Sunday 24 May 1942. The match was abandoned. The County Board met on Saturday 6 June 1942. The Connacht Tribune of 13 June 1942 reported that meeting under the headline "Blackguardism at Athenry causes heat at County Board meeting". The Connacht Sentinel of 9 June 1942 carries the same meeting. Both teams were suspended for twelve months, and Eyrecourt were declared the 1941 champions. The printed report records illegal players and "serious charges". The chairman was Mr T. O'Connor of Claregalway.
