Frank Glynn

County senior hurling champion with Fohenagh, 1959 and 1960

Summary

Named as F. Glynn in the 1959 and 1960 senior hurling champions photographs (A History of Fohenagh)[1]. He was on the Fohenagh side for the 1959 county final replay against Castlegar, Fohenagh 3-9, Castlegar 4-5 (Connacht Tribune, 19 September 1959), and the Galway City Tribune of 29 January 2021 places him on the 1960 side that won the title again[2]. A later report recalled that he won two county senior hurling titles with his native Fohenagh (Connacht Tribune, 6 September 2019, p.44)[2]. The book lists Frankie Glynn among the Fohenagh players picked for the Galway team in the late 1950s, and he was selected for Galway against Tipperary in the National League on 30 October 1960[3]. The Turloughmore club archive of the 1963 county final credits him with a goal for Fohenagh[4]. The Connacht Tribune of 26 September 1959 called Frank Glynn and Jim Moclair, the Fohenagh pair, "highly satisfactory" in their first major engagement for Galway, in the semi-final against Cork[5].
