Summary
Fohenagh Minor hurling champion in 1996, named on the side that beat Cappataggle 5-15 to 0-6 (Connacht Tribune, 13 September 1996), son of 1959 county champion Tim Sweeney[1]. Called to the county under-16 hurling trial at Ballinasloe (Connacht Tribune, 16 June 1995)[2]. Lined out for Ahascragh-Fohenagh in the 2001 Caltra Festival final and the 2004 county intermediate win over Padraic Pearses (Connacht Tribune, 22 Mar 2002 and 30 Jul 2004)[3]. Patrick Sweeney was on the Fohenagh under-12 side that won the county title in 1990 (Connacht Tribune, 7 December 1990, p.23)[4]. Also played with Ahascragh-Fohenagh, named in the 2006 line-out that ground out a good win (Connacht Tribune, 24 February 2006, p.21)[5]. Son of Tim Sweeney, the 1959 county champion[5]. Pictured with the Fohenagh underage team of 1990 (A History of Fohenagh)[6]. A History of Fohenagh names Patrick Sweeney, printed as P. Sweeney, among the Fohenagh under-16 champions of 1995 and the Fohenagh minor champions of 1996[6].
