Camogie, 2020s
Sarah Noone
Fohenagh native and Galway star
Summary
Sarah Noone, the centre-back from Fohenagh, was player of the match in the Connacht final and joint captain (Tuam Herald, 11 December 2024)[1]. Ahascragh-Caltra beat Oran 0-11 to 1-5 at Fohenagh to win the Fr Vincent Lawless Cup, the Connacht intermediate camogie title, and she scored five points in a row (Tuam Herald, 20 November 2024)[2]. The Tuam Herald noted how strongly she played in that second half (Tuam Herald, 20 November 2024)[2]. The Tuam Herald of 11 December 2024 gave her much of the credit for Ahascragh-Caltra's revival[1]. The Connacht Tribune of 29 November 2024 recalled that, sixteen years earlier, she had started an All-Ireland senior final for Galway against Cork[3]. That report also said she had won All-Ireland intermediate honours at Croke Park (Connacht Tribune, 29 November 2024)[3]. The Tuam Herald of 22 January 2025 named her among the Ahascragh-Caltra players nominated for the Galway intermediate team of the year[4].
