Summary
Full-back on the Fohenagh side that won the Galway Minor hurling final, beating Cappataggle 5-15 to 0-6 at Duggan Park, Ballinasloe (Connacht Tribune, 13 September 1996; printed Carol Mitchell)[1]. Called to the county under-16 hurling trial at Ballinasloe (Connacht Tribune, 16 June 1995)[2]. With Fonsie Mitchell, impressive for Fohenagh in the county Junior first-round loss to Ahascragh, 2-9 to 1-7 (Tuam Herald, 19 August 1995)[3]. Karl Mitchell was one of two Fohenagh players, with Alan Mockler, named on a 1994 underage team list (Galway City Tribune, 2 September 1994, p.15)[4]. In 1995 he was named again, this time alongside clubmate Patrick Sweeney (Connacht Tribune, 16 June 1995, p.16)[2]. In 1997 he was picked on Team B of a county team (Connacht Tribune, 4 April 1997, p.17)[5]. Pictured with the Fohenagh underage team of 1990 (A History of Fohenagh)[6]. A History of Fohenagh names Karl Mitchell, printed as K. Mitchell, among the Fohenagh under-16 champions of 1995 and the Fohenagh minor champions of 1996[6].
