“A Workmanlike win for Salthill juniors in county semi … THE Salthill hurling team, newly promoted to Junior 'A' status only this season, underlined its potential with a clear, if workmanlike, four point victory over Fohenagh in this county championship quarter final clash at Athenry on Sunday. … A well struck free from Ryan, that went all the way to the net, established a three point lead for Salthill, with only the accuracy of Fohenagh's free taker Gerry Burke — himself a former Salthill player — keeping his side within striking distance against a rearguard in which the reliable full back triumvirate of Joe Greaney, Denis O'Mahoney, and John McGrath were outstanding[12].”
