John Sweeney

Senior hurler for Galway, and a Fohenagh champion in 1960

Summary

John Sweeney was in the front row of the 1960 Fohenagh side that won back-to-back Galway senior hurling titles (Galway City Tribune, 29 January 2021, p.68)[1]. The Connacht Tribune of 26 November 1960 wrote that Tim, John and Jim Sweeney were brothers, all senior county hurlers[1]. A History of Fohenagh prints J. Sweeney twice on the 1960 champions photograph, and John Sweeney is one of the two[2].
