The cup retained

1960 Galway senior final

On St Patrick's Day, at Fohenagh, they beat Turloughmore 5-4 to 5-3 in a local tournament final[1]. Fohenagh led 4-1 to 3-2 at half-time, and the Connacht Tribune of 26 March named T. Sweeney, J. Mockler and minor M. Moylette as their best. M. Ward refereed[1]. The 1960 Galway senior final was at Pearse Stadium. The Tuam Herald of 3 September gives Fohenagh 4-9, Castlegar 2-7[2]. A 2021 look-back prints 5-13 to 2-4. Both scores stay[3]. The Herald called Murray's long drives a "constant menace" to the Castlegar backs, and it named P.J. Lally, Jimmy Moclair and Marty Glynn on a strong half-back line[2]. A History of Fohenagh names A. O'Gorman as captain on the 1960 team[4]. The same book shows Tommy Glynn with the cup[7]. The Connacht Tribune of 29 January 2021 names Anthony O'Gorman as captain in that team line[3]. On 15 October the County Board, meeting in Athenry, picked the side to play Tipperary on 30 October. Tony O'Gorman, P.J. Lally, Tim Sweeney, J. Sweeney and Frank Glynn were on the fifteen, and Jimmy Moclair was named to come on[5]. J. Sweeney is printed as an initial. Two players on the club's record fit it[5]. That same week the East Board junior football champions met Kilconly in the county semi-final at Mountbellew. The Tuam Herald gives Kilconly 2-8, Fohenagh 0-4, and half-time as 1-4 to 0-2[6]. The Herald's best for Fohenagh were Liam Manning, Gerry Kelly and Frank Madden in attack, and Tim Sweeney, Jim Moclair, Tom Glynn, Mick Coen and Vincent Coughlan in defence[6].
